About The Position

The Dollar Tree Summer Internship Program offers an enriching 10-week paid internship opportunity that takes place at our corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia. Interns will be immersed in a dynamic work environment where they will receive personalized mentorship and engage in professional development activities designed to enhance their skills. Throughout the internship, participants will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of our operations. Comprehensive onboarding will ensure interns are well-prepared from day one. Additionally, team-building activities will foster collaboration and networking among peers and leaders in the organization. At the culmination of the summer program, interns will have the exciting opportunity to present their projects and insights, with the possibility of earning scholarships as recognition for their hard work and creativity. As a Human Resources - Talent Engagement & Development Intern at Dollar Tree, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn about the critical functions that enhance the capabilities and satisfaction of our corporate associates. You will sit with both the Talent Engagement and Talent Development teams, supporting initiatives that impact the entire organization. Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced HR professionals, your role will involve: Assisting with the coordination and logistics of corporate training and development programs, such as leadership development workshops or new hire training. Contributing to the development of career pathing and performance management resources. Researching and summarizing HR best practices in areas like employee retention, organizational design, and learning technology to provide recommendations to the team. This internship is designed to provide you with valuable insights into the HR function within a large retail corporation and prepare you for a successful career. At the end of the program, each intern will be responsible for a presentation centered on what they learned and a real-world challenge/opportunity they helped to solve.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with an emphasis on customer service and professionalism
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Aptitude for analyzing data (e.g., survey results, training attendance) and presenting findings clearly
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn about corporate HR strategies and associate experience
