About The Position

The Human Resources Specialist, under the supervision of the human resources director, is responsible for implementing all phases of the employee recruitment process, administering pre-employment processes, conducting new team member preboarding and offboarding, maintaining employee records, generating reports, and assisting departments with HR-related audits. This is a part-time position requiring 25 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a certificate in human resource management or minimum 30 completed college units towards degree.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in an increasingly responsible human resources recruitment or generalist capacity.
  • Experience must include extensive and direct interaction with clients and the general public.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative.
  • Knowledge of and ability to proficiently and effectively use computers and related programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy in record keeping and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak effectively and make presentations before a group.
  • Ability to work with many interruptions.
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with supervisor, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to learn quickly and perform assigned specialized duties in a variety of administrative assignments with minimum supervision and within scope of authority.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to compose and prepare clear, concise, and descriptive correspondence and reports.

  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license.

  • Employment is conditional pending satisfactory results of pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

  • Implement all phases of the employee recruitment process.
  • Monitor position vacancies and determine the need to advertise jobs, utilizing various methods of job advertisements.
  • Screen employment applications and ensure timely notification of screening results.
  • Coordinate interviews with position monitors, schedule job applicants, prepare interview materials, orient interview panels, and ensure candidates are notified of interview results.
  • Establish and maintain employment candidate eligibility lists.
  • Administer all phases of the pre-employment process, including reference checks, physicals, criminal record clearances, job offers, HRIS entry, and introductory performance reviews.
  • Conduct new team member preboarding, including completion of required employment documents and HRIS self-service registration.
  • Create, maintain, and update employee information records and files, process personnel changes, and generate reports.
  • Conduct offboarding, including preparing documents, notifying personnel, providing exit meeting instructions, terminating employees in HRIS, and conducting exit interviews.
  • Receive, review, and submit volunteer/intern applications for approval and coordinate volunteer start dates.
  • Generate and distribute various reports, including personnel count reports, new team member reports, labor default, mandated reporter, first aid/CPR, education attainment, and general employee information.
  • Remind teaching personnel of permit expiration dates and monitor non-compliance.
  • Ensure mandated reporter training renewals are completed.
  • Assist departments with HR-related audits and gathering of documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
