About The Position

Greensboro Urban Ministry (GUM) is seeking a Part-Time Human Resources Specialist to manage the daily functions of the HR department. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth HR operations, including payroll, recruitment, personnel documentation, benefits administration, and policy adherence. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to utilize and create documents and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive and collaborative professional relationships.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of human resources experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity payroll system.
  • Experience with Employee Navigator benefits administration system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily functions of the Human Resources department.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and efficiently using the Paylocity system.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to ensure timely approval of timecards and leave requests.
  • Maintain payroll reports for the finance team and annual fiscal audits.
  • Update and maintain job descriptions in collaboration with supervisors.
  • Post vacant positions on Paylocity and other job boards, managing the search process.
  • Review job applications and present qualified candidates to supervisors.
  • Coordinate interviews between candidates and supervisors, and participate if requested.
  • Facilitate job offers, including reference checks and pre-employment screenings (background checks, drug screenings).
  • Maintain new employment documentation (I-9 forms, tax forms, direct deposit, emergency contacts).
  • Update electronic personnel records in Paylocity for new hires, terminations, and changes in pay, position, or supervisor.
  • Maintain physical personnel files and other pertinent documentation according to retention schedules.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment with insurance brokers.
  • Ensure the Employee Navigator benefits administration system is up-to-date.
  • Provide monthly benefits invoices to the finance team and assist employees with benefits information.
  • Coordinate with retirement plan administrators for payroll contributions and assist employees with plan-related inquiries.
  • Ensure GUM's employment policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Review and update the employee handbook policies and procedures.
  • Assist employees with Worker’s Compensation, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and disability claims.
  • Assist the Finance Specialist as needed.
  • Attend and participate in GUM staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
