About The Position

We are a fully integrated sand supply and services company, offering complete sand, logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers with our in-basin trans-loading terminals and our smartsystem storage capabilities. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada. The Human Resources Specialist will provide administrative support to the Human Resources team in the areas of HRIS maintenance, payroll documentation, recruitment and selection, onboarding/orientation, records management, employee benefits administration, and overall HR administration. This position will be the onsite Human Resources representative at our Oakdale facility. This position will work under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources but will require taking direction from the Sr. Human Resources Generalist and the Smart Sand Management Team. This position will be based out of our Oakdale, WI facility and is an on-site, in office position. This position may require occasional travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a Human Resources Role required.
  • General knowledge of HR laws, practices, and policies is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both oral and written.
  • Understanding of state and federal requirements and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with HRIS systems and timekeeping systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process, verify, and maintain documentation related to plant personnel activities.
  • Assist in answering employee queries about HR-related issues.
  • Assist in benefits administration including open enrollment, benefits enrollment, benefits termination (COBRA), reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Conduct monthly audits of benefits as compared to enrollment in ADP.
  • Assist in processing payroll-related related paperwork in ADP.
  • Assist in maintaining EEO records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining the employee directory for Oakdale personnel.
  • Assist in maintaining human resource information system records.
  • Assist in the recruiting and hiring process, including posting job openings, saving resumes, conducting telephone interviews, coordinating onsite interviews, checking references, and verifying employment applications.
  • Maintain the Oakdale employee files.
  • Assist the Sr. HR Generalist with timecard management by auditing the Oakdale timecards.
  • Maintain the Oakdale Sick Call tracking and compare to weekly timecards. Alert the HR team to any excessive, late, or questionable call-ins.
  • Maintain the Oakdale Corrective Action tracker.
  • Own the Oakdale new hire orientation/onboarding process.
  • Partner with plant leadership on employee engagement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
