About The Position

Assist the Human Resources Manager with overseeing the daily operations of Human Resources. Provide a safe, fun and friendly work environment, competitive wages, recruit and hire great team members, train and develop, handle Team Member issues in a fair and consistent manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years HR experience or 3-5 years HR experience
  • Above average computer skills
  • Ability to delegate, prioritize and juggle many tasks
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Great customer service skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking/ presentations

Nice To Haves

  • HR certification preferred (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct first interviews and make hiring decisions
  • Participate in job fairs
  • Cover HR Coordinator responsibilities when on leave/ vacation/ or absent.
  • Maintain records for all new hires and current Team Members- I-9’s, working papers background checks, orientation paperwork
  • Conduct New Hire orientation
  • Ensure all new hires go through orientation, buddy system, Go for the Gold
  • Evaluate new hires within their 90-day probationary period
  • Communication meeting agendas
  • Maintain updated HR bulletin boards, communication on TV, Monthly mass emails, Daily Newsletter
  • Quarterly rankings- address poor performers and develop the stars
  • Just promoted program- celebration, communication, training, ladders
  • Ensure great participation in all of our training classes- skills, compliance, culture, and leadership
  • Investigate employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner making disciplinary decisions up to and including termination in the best interest of Stew Leonard’s.
  • Attend and represent unemployment hears and respond to legal claims made through CHRO, EEOC, etc.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by addressing safety concerns through the Safety Committee and administering the Workers Compensation program, in accordance with OSHA.
  • Recognize team members by organizing store events and programs.
  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure performance appraisals are written within established standards, pay increases are in line with guidelines or approved by Store Vice President, and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Benefits and leave administration in compliance with HIPPAA, FMLA, ADA and all other applicable laws.
  • Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude, ensuring that each customer feels welcome and appreciated.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the store, offering assistance and support where needed.
  • Improve and maintain the efficiency of the store in order to reach success.
  • Be a positive ambassador for the store, representing our S.T.E.W. values in all interactions with customers and team members. You are the biggest WOW!
