Being a Human Resources Specialist at Levitate is a very special and important part of our organization. As our dedicated HR presence supporting our Ontario-based team, you’ll be the trusted point of contact employees and managers turn to for guidance, consistency, and care - ensuring every employee’s experience, from their first day through their last, reflects who we are as a company. This role will report to our Manager of Employee Relations and should have a strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and a steady, solutions-oriented approach to employee relations helping us scale thoughtfully as our Canadian team grows.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience supporting an Ontario-based workforce
  • Working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (e.g., the Employment Standards Act) and its application to daily HR practices
  • Experience with an HRIS (BambooHR experience a plus) and comfort managing accurate, detailed records
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential employee matters
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with employees and managers alike
  • Ability to self-motivate and succeed in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work across multiple HR functions

Nice To Haves

  • CHRL (Certified Human Resources Leader) designation through HRPA preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Process new hires into HRIS (BambooHR), ensuring accurate and timely completion of records, documentation, and onboarding tasks.
  • Lead new hire orientation to provide a welcoming and informative start.
  • Collaborate with Ontario-based leaders on employee relations matters, ensuring empathy and sound judgment.
  • Keep the VP of Talent and relevant leaders informed of employee issues, proactively flagging potential concerns.
  • Contribute to updates of the employee handbook, ensuring policies are current with Ontario employment standards and best practices, and provide guidance to employees.
  • Manage the offboarding process for departing employees, ensuring a respectful and compliant exit.
  • Advise managers on appropriate disciplinary actions, including termination, balancing business needs with fairness and legal compliance.
  • Manage benefits enrollment end-to-end, serving as the primary resource for employee questions.
  • Lead HR-related trainings for managers and employees when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and documentation across HR systems.
