HR/Recruiting Specialist

Disability Rights Texas•Austin, TX

About The Position

Disability Rights Texas is hiring a full-time, non-exempt Human Resources Recruiting Specialist for its Rural Justice Initiative (RJI). This new, grant-funded, time-limited role supports DRTx’s participation in a five-year collaborative project to expand access to civil legal services for low-income Texans in rural communities and legal deserts. Continued employment depends on the duration and availability of project funding. The position is classified as Confidential and is not in the bargaining unit. The Specialist will develop, coordinate, and execute recruitment and talent-acquisition activities, primarily to attract and hire attorneys providing disability-related legal services in rural and underserved areas of Texas. The role may also support hiring for other RJI-funded positions and other DRTx employment needs as assigned. Working with the Human Resources Director, RJI project leadership, supervising attorneys, hiring managers, and external partners, the Specialist will build sustainable attorney talent pipelines and manage assigned recruitment activities from sourcing through accepted offer and transition to onboarding. The work emphasizes proactive sourcing and relationship building beyond traditional job postings. The Specialist will develop connections with law schools and career services offices, bar associations, professional and public-interest organizations, community partners, colleges and universities, and people interested in practicing in rural Texas. The position represents DRTx at recruitment events and requires periodic travel throughout Texas, including occasional overnight travel.
