About The Position

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Human Resources Manager to serve as a business partner, coach, and leader for their Humboldt, TN cheese processing plant. This role involves understanding and translating business strategies into HR consulting for business and performance needs, covering areas such as employee relations, talent acquisition and management, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and change management. The position reports primarily to the Plant Manager with a secondary reporting relationship to the Corporate VP of HR.

Requirements

  • Significant HR knowledge, including staffing, union avoidance, change management, organizational development, compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, talent planning, and general management practices.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and organizational skills to build and maintain relationships across departments and with a diverse employee base.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to assess issues, make quick, independent decisions, implement solutions, and drive change.
  • Highly responsive, detail-oriented, and analytical in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with shifting priorities, utilizing strong time management skills and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Professional presentation skills.
  • High level of integrity.
  • 8+ years of general human resource experience, business management experience, or a combination of both.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or a similar field.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic facilitator, working directly with the Plant Leadership Team to anticipate opportunities and lead change that improves individual, team, and business performance.
  • Provide coaching to the Plant Leadership Team.
  • Recommend and implement effective team member engagement practices to build a company culture that drives high talent engagement.
  • Navigate organizational needs and implement positive employee relations strategies within daily plant operations.
  • Build relationships based on trust and respect, offering insights informed by integrity, business acumen, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Partner with the Corporate HR Team on human capital efforts and align with company-wide HR initiatives.
  • Develop, facilitate, and administer company-specific training sessions to support business needs and foster legal compliance.
  • Lead talent acquisition by coaching and consulting on staffing needs, managing the process of identifying vacancies, recruiting, interviewing, and selecting talent.
  • Plan, design, and lead an effective onboarding program for new employees.
  • Partner with the Plant Leadership Team on employee relations, assisting with employee expectations, issues, disputes, disciplinary procedures, and terminations.
  • Provide information to employees about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and benefits.
  • Assist the plant leadership team with project and change management and plant-wide communications.
  • Partner with Corporate Purchasing to manage employee services like food vending and uniforms.
  • Ensure site HR practices are legally compliant and adhere to company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
