About The Position

Sargent Electric Company is seeking a Human Resources Manager for their Pittsburgh office. This role will support and execute core HR functions across the employee lifecycle, including employee relations, compliance, performance management, and HR operations. The ideal candidate will possess broad HR knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive human resources experience with exposure to multiple HR disciplines.
  • Broad working knowledge of employment law, employee relations, talent management, and HR best practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Viewpoint software and applicant tracking systems is a plus.
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred but not required.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Comfortable supporting both managers and employees.
  • Professional, calm, and solutions-oriented demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of HR duties by managing core HR functions through the employee lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for new-hire orientation and onboarding; coordinating with hiring managers to ensure all hiring processes are completed.
  • Support HR operations across multiple business units/divisions, partnering with managers to ensure consistent application of policies, practices, and employee relations standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws while supporting policy updates, performance reviews, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Support the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignments, tracking completion, reporting, and supporting training and development initiatives.
  • Partner with payroll to support benefits programs and administration.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, policies and systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
