About The Position

The Human Resources Development (HRD) Intern will support the Human Resources team at Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas while gaining hands-on experience aligned with industry-recognized human resource practices. This internship provides exposure to a broad range of HR functions and initiatives and is designed to develop practical skills in a mission-driven healthcare environment. The intern will be supervised by the Director of Human Resources and Vice President of Human Resources to ensure a comprehensive and well-rounded learning experience. Scope and Impact This internship is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience in human resource development. Interns will gain exposure to both strategic and operational HR functions while contributing to initiatives that support employee growth, organizational effectiveness, and community impact.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Interest in learning, development, and organizational effectiveness
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
  • Ability to perform tasks that may include sitting, standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with research tools and virtual collaboration platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and project support to the HR team
  • Assist with editing, formatting, and standardizing HR documents and communications
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information
  • Support HR initiatives aligned with organizational development and employee engagement
  • Assist with recruitment-related activities, including scheduling, communication, and candidate coordination
  • Support workforce development programs such as the SA Works Program
  • Help plan and coordinate intern learning sessions, workshops, and engagement activities
  • Assist with coordination of HR projects, meetings, and special initiatives
  • Support preparation and distribution of reports, presentations, and internal communications
  • Collaborate with HR leadership on assigned projects aligned with HRD competencies
  • Perform administrative duties including data entry, filing, document preparation, and research
  • Gather and organize information for HR-related projects and initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with team members across departments
