About The Position

We are looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Intern who is currently enrolled in a college or university program and eager to gain real-world HR experience over the next 12 months. In this hands-on role, you will support the employee-facing side of HR—assisting with day-to-day employee inquiries, maintaining accurate HR records, and helping deliver great onboarding and engagement experiences. This internship is a great opportunity to build practical skills, learn how HR operations work, and grow in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Reporting to the local HR Manager, this is a year-round, on-site internship located at BWXT’s Nuclear Operations Group manufacturing plant in Barberton, OH. The position offers flexible scheduling based on your academic commitments, with a minimum requirement of averaging 10 hours per week. Requirements

  • This opportunity is available to current students working toward an undergraduate degree in human resource management or a closely related field.
  • Ability to handle and work with confidential information within defined requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to report to an assigned work location each day as scheduled.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with or working knowledge of U.S. labor laws.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and applicant tracking system software.

Responsibilities

  • Support accurate data entry by updating internal employee systems and databases.
  • Use HR tools and resources to prepare reports that help the business make informed decisions.
  • Help create a welcoming experience for new hires by supporting onboarding activities.
  • Complete and maintain I-9 documentation with a high level of accuracy.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining new-hire files and employee records.
  • Support the timekeeping process to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with recruiting activities, including participating in local job fairs.
  • Collaborate closely with HR team members and local management to keep HR operations running smoothly.
