About The Position

This position is located at 6080 Young Street, Halifax, NS. The role requires working in the designated office five (5) days per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. We are seeking a driven HR Generalist to join our People & Culture team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for career growth and hands-on experience in employee wellness and benefits, employee relations, recruitment, internal communications, and other HR programs. Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, you will collaborate with leaders, employees, and People & Culture peers to support initiatives that foster employee success. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on variety, takes ownership, and is willing to actively contribute.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline with a concentration in Human Resources.
  • 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience administering employee benefits, disability management, accommodations, or leave programs.
  • Knowledge of benefit plans, pension administration, and applicable employment legislation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • A high level of discretion and attention to detail when handling confidential information.
  • A proactive mindset, strong follow-through, and a willingness to take initiative.
  • A genuine passion for supporting employees and creating a positive workplace experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting wellness, employee engagement, or employee experience initiatives.
  • CPHR designation, or progress toward obtaining a CPHR designation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer group benefits and pension programs, ensuring employees understand and can access resources.
  • Coordinate disability management and employee leave processes (medical, parental, compassionate care, etc.).
  • Support employees and leaders through the leave lifecycle, including documentation, communication, accommodations, and return-to-work planning.
  • Draft, proofread, and distribute employee communications.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, employment standards, and workplace practices.
  • Assist with investigations, progressive discipline processes, and related documentation.
  • Support and coordinate employee experience and wellness initiatives.
  • Co-chair the Employment Equity Committee and support compliance and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of HR policies, programs, and processes.
  • Assist with recruitment activities and ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Collaborate on People & Culture projects and initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
