Requirements

  • 2+ years of broad HR experience required
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of HR laws, compliance, and current trends in the field
  • A people-first mindset and passion for creating a workplace where employees can thrive

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources (preferred)
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders to understand business needs, influence people strategies, and provide consultative guidance on talent, culture, and engagement.
  • Coach leaders through employee relations matters, performance management, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Lead new employee onboarding and orientation, ensuring every new team member feels connected, prepared, and excited about their future at Gordon Food Service.
  • Support new hires from offer through their first 90 days, driving a seamless transition into our culture and operations.
  • Plan and support employee engagement events - from wellness activities to recognition programs - that strengthen connection, belonging, and fun across the distribution center.
  • Partner with leaders to design retention strategies, including stay interviews and milestone check-ins, that keep employees engaged and growing.
  • Collaborate on workforce planning and sourcing strategies, attending job fairs and partnering with community organizations to attract talent.
  • Promote leadership training and development programs, ensuring managers have the tools to succeed.
  • Guide employees and leaders on benefits, wellness, and retirement plans.
  • Support compliance, FMLA, workers’ compensation, and policy implementation.
  • Provide insight into HR metrics, helping leaders understand trends and make data-informed decisions.
