About The Position

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join its three-person HR team, supporting approximately 120 full-time and 500 seasonal/variable employees. This role will manage the day-to-day operations of the Foundation’s recruiting and training initiatives, ensuring a positive candidate and employee experience. The Generalist will determine and coordinate annual and ad hoc training opportunities, perform general HR responsibilities, and take the initiative to advance various HR processes, programs, and projects. This position will also serve as back-up to the Human Resources Generalist (Benefits and Employee Relations) to ensure workflow continuity and provide support during peak periods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology or related field, or equivalent, transferrable work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant and progressive Human Resources experience with a focus on full life cycle recruiting and HR generalist responsibilities.
  • Direct experience screening and interviewing candidates.
  • Proven knowledge of sourcing techniques including internet and social media sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build positive relationships with candidates and deliver a positive applicant experience through proactive, authentic communication and efficient process management.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws and best practices, with special emphasis on full life cycle recruiting and the ability to stay up to date on changing laws and regulations.
  • Creative, innovative, proactive, motivated and results and customer service-oriented.
  • Willingness to take ownership of and prioritize a wide range of responsibilities, with changing priorities and a drive for continual improvement.
  • Critical thinker, able to identify issues and opportunities, provide solutions, and reach consensus with multiple stakeholders.

  • Provide consultative, problem-solving support for challenging staffing needs.
  • Solid technology skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Experience with Paycom ATS is a plus or the ability to learn the system quickly.
  • Some travel to area job fairs.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, implement, and measure effective recruiting and talent acquisition strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand position requirements and create accurate position descriptions.
  • Draft and post job openings to the Foundation website and other selected sites.
  • Source candidates using various methods including networking, social media, and new job posting sites.
  • Identify, screen, and present qualified applicants to hiring managers for full-time positions.
  • Conduct reference checks and present offers for full-time positions.
  • Prepare offer letters and initiate onboarding and background checks for full-time employees.
  • Manage offer letters, onboarding, and background checks for seasonal/variable employees.
  • Provide hiring managers and the Senior Director, HR with timely and accurate recruiting reports.
  • Coordinate and maintain the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), conduct user training for hiring managers, and maintain recruiting materials.
  • Review and update HR policies and procedures related to recruiting.
  • Communicate with applicants in a timely manner, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
  • Organize and attend seasonal job fairs and other networking opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Identify, develop, and coordinate or lead training sessions (e.g., LinkedIn Learning, Sexual Harassment Prevention).
  • Recommend training programs to employees and managers to maintain or improve job skills.
  • Evaluate training program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
  • Prepare the recruiting and training budgets.
  • Maintain records and submit expenses related to recruiting and training.
  • Help facilitate the annual merit cycle process, including market data updates and the annual performance management process.
  • Collaborate and cross-train with and serve as back-up to the Human Resources Generalist (Benefits/Employee Relations).
  • Assist with researching, reviewing, developing, and administering HR policies and programs.
  • Critically review and analyze current policies and procedures to recommend and implement changes.
  • Serve as project manager for various HR programs and initiatives.
  • Update and maintain the organizational chart.
  • Complete annual EEO-1 reporting and prepare HR analytics.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Serve on the Foundation’s Culture and Belonging Committee and participate in developing and implementing initiatives to attract, recruit, and maintain an inclusive workplace.
  • Other duties as assigned.
