About The Position

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Generalist to lead day-to-day HR operations and support the team from recruitment through every stage of the employee journey. The Human Resources Generalist will administer the full range of HR functions for the resort, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, health and safety, and staff accommodation. Working closely with the General Manager and department leaders, this role is key in creating a positive, respectful, and high-performing workplace while contributing to an exceptional guest experience. Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is located in Ucluelet on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park, offering guests a West Coast experience with oceanfront accommodations, a spa, and food and beverage outlets. The resort is situated on the traditional territory of the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ – Ucluelet First Nation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of BC Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, WorkSafeBC requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience working with confidential employee information.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach and genuine commitment to employee experience.
  • Cultural awareness, sensitivity, and respect for diversity and inclusion.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality, tourism, or service industry experience is considered a strong asset.
  • CPHR designation (or working towards designation).
  • Experience supporting seasonal workforces.
  • Experience with employer-supported immigration programs.
  • Experience supporting staff accommodation programs or employee housing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation to help welcome and set up new team members for success.
  • Serve as the go-to HR resource for managers, supporting employee relations, progressive discipline, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, documentation, and reporting, and administer employee benefits programs.
  • Support the development and rollout of HR policies and workplace training, including respectful workplace and harassment prevention.
  • Support the staff accommodation program in partnership with the Accommodation Manager(s), including tenancy documentation and day-to-day employee support.
  • Coordinate documentation and support for seasonal and temporary foreign worker programs, liaising with immigration consultants as needed.
  • Coordinate the Occupational Health & Safety program and support the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Champion employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives that build a great place to work.
  • Participate in leadership meetings as the HR resource, contributing to workforce planning and organizational effectiveness.
