About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist supports the delivery and implementation of HR programs, policies, and procedures across a range of functions, including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations. Acting as a primary point of contact for an assigned client group and/or location, the incumbent partners closely with Corporate HR and Centers of Expertise (COEs) to address operational HR needs and contribute to local initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a Human Resources role, with experience working in a unionized environment, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
  • Proven experience in unionized environments, including day‑to‑day labour relations support and collaboration with union representatives.
  • Strong Knowledge of collective agreements, including the ability to interpret, apply, and advise leaders and employees on provisions accurately and consistently.
  • Skilled in providing timely guidance while exercising tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment, especially in sensitive or high‑pressure situations
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, influence, and support leaders and employees at various levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess situations, interpret information, and make sound recommendations based on experience and applicable policies or legislation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with a high level of professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
  • Bilingual French and English

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the management team by promoting sound human resources practices that foster a respectful, inclusive, and productive work environment.
  • Support managers in a unionized environment, providing guidance on the interpretation and application of collective agreements, labour standards, and company policies.
  • Serve as a resource for labour relations, including participation in grievance handling, investigations, disciplinary processes, and supporting negotiations preparation, in collaboration with HR leadership.
  • Establish and deliver effective onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a successful employee integration experience.
  • Advise and coach managers and employees on HR matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, attendance management, and workplace concerns; escalate complex cases to Centers of Expertise (COEs) as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive union–management relationship and promoting a harmonious workplace climate.
  • Implement innovative HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement, mobilization, and retention.
  • Partner with leaders to support employee development through workforce planning, career pathing, and coaching.
  • Play an active role in driving employee engagement initiatives and monitoring workplace climate.
  • Act as a liaison between employees, management, Corporate HR, and payroll to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate disability management and return-to-work processes for non-occupational injuries or illnesses, in compliance with applicable legislation and internal policies.
  • Deliver HR-related training to supervisors and employees and maintain accurate training records.
  • Support HR Business Partners and COEs in analyzing HR trends and metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide insights to support continuous improvement.
  • Develop, update, and maintain site-specific HR policies, procedures, and documentation in alignment with corporate standards and Quebec legal requirements.
