About The Position

Hoffmann Brothers is seeking an experienced, people-first HR Generalist to join their St. Louis shared services team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that sits at the intersection of people operations, learning and development, and employee experience. The HR Generalist will serve as a dedicated partner to assigned business units across their skilled trades workforce and office professionals, building relationships, solving problems, and helping leaders and team members do their best work. The ideal candidate will possess both strong HR fundamentals and the people instincts to thrive in a fast-paced, field-service environment, comfortable with tasks ranging from new hire orientation to coaching managers through difficult conversations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience supporting a diverse workforce
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training, new hire orientation, or leadership development programs
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment law
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and payroll platforms

Nice To Haves

  • Field service or skilled trades experience is a strong plus
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a dedicated HR partner to assigned business units, developing a deep understanding of their operational goals, team dynamics, and people challenges.
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders and team members, providing proactive, practical guidance on employee relations, performance, and policy.
  • Coach and advise managers on feedback delivery, performance improvement plans, and career development conversations.
  • Partner with leadership to drive consistent, meaningful performance review cycles.
  • Lead weekly new hire orientations, creating a welcoming and informative first-day experience that sets team members up for success from day one.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to identify learning needs and develop targeted growth plans for high-potential team members.
  • Facilitate training and development programs for frontline leaders and team members across the organization.
  • Provide front-line support for employee relations with professionalism, consistency, and discretion.
  • Conduct investigations, manage documentation, and lead coaching conversations in alignment with company policy and employment law.
  • Champion team member engagement initiatives, support listening sessions, and help translate feedback into meaningful action.
  • Manage and track leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA, and personal leaves with both empathy and compliance.
  • Support workers' comp intake, coordinate return-to-work processes, and partner with leaders to reinforce a culture of safety.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and contribute to HR reporting and workforce data as needed.
