About The Position

The Sr. Human Resources Generalist will be the employee's first point of contact for HR-related queries and concerns, acting as the public image of the company. This role involves building positive relationships, proactively identifying and resolving HR issues, and continuously improving the company's image as an attractive place to work. The Generalist will support line managers in developing HR skills, provide feedback for policy creation, and perform recruitment activities. They will also ensure compliance with employment laws, roll out company-wide HR programs, and support employment and diversity initiatives. Additionally, this role involves managing performance appraisals, maintaining exit interview data, facilitating employee relations, and ensuring proper salary administration. Advanced skills in data reporting, HR metrics, and analytics, including compliance reporting (EEO-1, VETS 100, Affirmative Action Plans), are required.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 6+ years of overall Human Resources experience required.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a Warehouse environment.
  • Minimum of 4 years HR Generalist experience with thorough knowledge of all Federal and State laws.
  • Working knowledge of provincial, territorial, and federal employment regulations across Canada is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of HR experience at a generalist level.
  • Proven track record of relationship building with both internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work in a confidential manner when dealing with sensitive and confidential information and documents.
  • Ability to be flexible, change tasks, adjust, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications).
  • Ability to generate HR-related presentations and facilitate in front of small and large groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage and build positive relationships and communicate effectively with all internal clients, co-workers, and outside vendors.
  • Act as the employee's first point of contact for HR-related queries and concerns.
  • Proactively identify and communicate employee issues that impact the client group’s ability to meet business objectives.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve HR-related problems or situations, calling on appropriate resources.
  • Continuously improve Crane’s image as an attractive place to work.
  • Assist line managers in developing skills to manage human resources more effectively through modeling, coaching, instruction, and training.
  • Provide on-going feedback to the Regional HR Manager to assist in policy creation.
  • Perform recruitment activities such as developing advertisements, screening candidates, and conducting interviews for selected positions.
  • Maintain records of recruitment activities.
  • Monitor unemployment claims and assist line managers with appeals.
  • Ensure local compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Roll out all Crane-wide HR programs such as: Performance Appraisals, Reward and Recognition, Wellness Initiatives, Compliance Training, Annual Open Enrollment, Service Award Program, Employee Satisfaction Survey, Random Drug Screening, and other similar programs.
  • Assist in the formulation of manpower objectives, staffing plans, and individual, team, and organization development plans.
  • Support employment and diversity programs and objectives.
  • Assist line managers with performance appraisals; track due dates for the region and report on outstanding performance appraisals by manager.
  • Conduct/maintain exit interview database.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving strategies to resolve employee relations issues through effective communication with all levels of employees.
  • Ensure proper and consistent salary administration through analysis of salary increases.
  • Report increases that appear to be outside of established guidelines and any possible wage and hour compliance issues.
  • Create & maintain updated human resources manual and employee handbooks as directed.
  • Perform Data Reporting, HR Metrics & Analytics (Advanced), including compliance reporting (EEO-1, VETS 100, Affirmative Action Plans, etc.).
