About The Position

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing a variety of HR duties, including overseeing payroll, benefits administration, and compliance with federal and state regulations. The role also includes managing the 403(b) plan, assist with coordinating and supervising the internship program with a local high school, and ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions to support the organization’s overall goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in HR
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multitask, strong critical thinking skills, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process payroll using Paylocity, ensuring accurate and timely payroll distribution.
  • Coordinate with Senior HR Director, CXO and CFO to reconcile payroll and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees.
  • Oversee the company’s 403(b) retirement plan, including employee enrollments, timely contributions, and compliance with plan requirements.
  • Administer health, dental, and vision benefits, ensuring accuracy in employee elections and deductions.
  • Manage open enrollment periods, providing employees with the necessary information.
  • Respond to benefit-related inquiries from employees with assistance from HR Director when needed.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for internship applicants, school officials (Business Practicum Teacher), and the internal Shalom Austin team.
  • Manage the schedule for the internship program to ensure it runs smoothly.
  • Assist HR Director with reviewing internship applicants and selecting interns.
  • Ensure interns are onboarded properly, tracked through the program, and receive necessary mentorship and feedback.
  • Complete evaluations for interns sent by Practicum Teacher every 9-weeks.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, including preparation of new hire documentation and orientation.
  • Administer employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and company requirements.
  • Support performance management processes, including tracking reviews, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and maintain compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries addressing questions about benefits, company policies, and procedures with timely and accurate information.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for worker’s comp and employee injuries, addressing questions and completing documentation for insurance company.
  • Monitor and manage the HR inbox, ensuring prompt and professional responses to employee and management inquiries.
  • Assist in organizing HR-related events, including meetings, staff celebrations, and team-building activities.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Experience Manager to plan, prepare, and order service awards for staff meetings and recognition events.
  • Generate monthly reports from Financial Edge, reconcile the HR budget, and review any discrepancies with the HR Director.
  • Oversee and maintain the HR supply closet, conducting regular inventory checks for items like service pins, staff shirts, and other recognition materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in preparing HR reports and data analysis as required.
  • Conduct audits related to payroll, benefits, and other HR processes.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all 403b, Worker’s Comp, and other audits.
  • All other duties as assigned.
