About The Position

The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Human Resources Generalist to provide broad-based support to the Human Resources department. This role offers flexible, timely support across multiple functional areas including Staffing, Recruitment, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Leaves, HRIS, and Employee Support, adjusting to shifting departmental needs and priorities. The HR Generalist plays an essential role in delivering high-quality, timely, and accurate HR services to support MMSD’s staff, schools, communities, and scholars. This position requires a high degree of integrity, a commitment to continuous improvement, support for an inclusive work environment, and a growth mindset within a dynamic, multi-faceted operation. Requirements

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience in human resources or a related administrative function in a professional environment
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Follow principles and practices that promote and advance anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Knowledge of core HR principles and practices across multiple functional areas
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Analytical and detail-oriented approach to reviewing data and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional correspondence
  • Proficiency with Google Workplace and other common software applications; ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
