Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team at Verily. The HR Generalist will be responsible for performing HR-related duties and working closely with the HR team and management in supporting our teams and HR operations primarily in Canada, as well as within other locations across the U.S. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employment law compliance, policy implementation, benefits, talent management, training, employee relations and recruitment. This role acts as a key point of contact for employees and managers, ensuring HR policies and practices support organizational goals.

Requirements

  • University degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR/CHRP) designation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on generalist duties within a Canadian context.
  • Must have managed cross functional workflows between payroll and benefits.
  • Strong understanding of employment standards, human rights, and privacy legislation across Canadian provinces.
  • A deep mastery of Ontario employment laws and standards, along with the ability to navigate the varying provincial requirements across Canada.
  • Qualified candidates must not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment.
  • The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is CAD $108,000 - $121,500 + bonus + equity + benefits.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Verily is currently unable to offer employment-based visa or work permit sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related inquiries, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay current on changes to Canadian employment legislation and proactively update policies and practices as required.
  • Partner with payroll, benefits and HR Operations to manage employee cases and communicate policies.
  • Manage performance processes, including reviews, goal setting, feedback, and performance coaching.
  • Identify training needs and collaborate with the Talent team on developing and delivering programs for employees and managers on leadership, professional development, and compliance.
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding, ensuring a smooth integration into the company and proper completion of Canadian employment documentation.
