About The Position

Essex Meadows is seeking a hospitality-focused HR Generalist to join their team. This role supports the Director of Human Resources in various HR functions, with a primary focus on onboarding, orientation, and benefits administration. The position utilizes HRIS cloud-based systems to manage recruitment, onboarding, employment, payroll, and benefit functions. The HR Generalist will manage the onboarding workflow, lead new hire orientations, maintain employment documentation, and assist with leaves such as WC, FMLA, and ADA. The role may also involve employee relations, counseling, and grievance handling, while maintaining strict confidentiality. Essex Meadows is a senior living community located in Essex, CT, offering a unique work environment with a focus on resident stories and employee investment.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in HR role required
  • HRIS experience required (i.e., ADP, Oracle HCM,)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Ability to present in small and large groups
  • Ability to pay attention to details and retain information
  • Ability to concentrate with frequent interruptions and stay organized
  • All new hires must be able to pass our preemployment screening process, which includes a fitness for duty physical, criminal background check, drug test and employment references as required by a licensed residential care facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field preferred
  • Experience working in an HR role in a retirement community, assisted living or other healthcare setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment and labor regulations, employee relations, compensation & benefits administration, recruiting & selection, training and development, and/or employee engagement

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director of Human Resources in all aspects of human resources, primarily onboarding, orientation, and benefits administration.
  • Utilizes HRIS cloud-based systems (i.e., Oracle HCM) to manage recruitment, onboarding, employment, payroll and benefit functions.
  • Manages onboarding workflow process from requisition through first day.
  • Leads regularly scheduled new hire orientation and coordinates all aspects.
  • Maintains all employment documentation in the appropriate personnel files in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assists in managing WC, FMLA, ADA, and other leaves according to company policy.
  • May act in a conciliatory role regarding employee concerns, employee relations, counseling, and grievances.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all employment and community information.
