About The Position

Pratt Industries is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist for the North Central Converting Division based out of Grand Rapids, MI. This role involves directing all phases of employment, administering employee benefits, serving as a primary contact for HR-related matters, maintaining HR reports and records, and assisting in managing temporary agencies. The position requires strong recruiting experience, the ability to investigate hotline calls and employee complaints, and compliance with company policies. Travel to other locations may be required on an as-needed basis. The role demands the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.

Requirements

  • Two to Four years’ experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate (proficient in MS Word, MS Excel)
  • BS degree in HR Management/Business Mgmt
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements, general business periodicals, professional journals, operating and maintenance instructions, regulatory laws and manuals, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees of the company.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of HR laws and regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred SPHR or PHR certification
  • Preferred Candidates with experience with ADP
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in our fast past environment.
  • Preferred experience working a union facility

Responsibilities

  • Direct all phases of employment including advertising, recruiting, interviewing, testing, placement of personnel, orientation programs, exit interviews, and unemployment compensation hearings.
  • Investigate hotline calls and employee complaints to seek positive resolution in a speedy manner.
  • Administer all employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, FMLA and vacation, paid sick leave.
  • Serve as primary source of contact to managers, employees, working under the supervision of the HR Manager on all human resource related matters.
  • Maintain and administer HR reports and records as required by state and federal laws.
  • Maintain and update personnel files and I-9 files.
  • Assist in managing Temporary Agencies supplying labor to the plant. And hold the Temporary Agencies accountable to Pratt Industries Hiring Criteria.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to do some travel to any other location Divisional HR Manager designates on as needed basis.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Manage multiple deadlines.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
