About The Position

The HR Generalist II serves as a primary on-site HR resource for operations, providing hands-on support to supervisors and employees in a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment. This role focuses on employee relations, policy interpretation, attendance and performance management, training administration, and compliance, and is responsible for independently addressing routine and moderately complex HR matters. The HR Generalist II partners closely with Operations management to promote accountability, consistency, employee engagement, and effective workforce practices across the organization. This position will be based on-site at our manufacturing facility in Gurnee, IL. This HR Generalist will support the day shift (8am-4:30pm) with flexibility based on business needs. This position is primarily assigned to support day shift operations. However, as a member of the Human Resources team supporting a 24/7 manufacturing environment, flexibility is required. The incumbent may be expected to work occasional evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, or adjusted schedules to meet business needs, support employee relations matters, facilitate training, assist with staffing initiatives, or respond to operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; discipline in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, preferably in a manufacturing or operations environment supporting an hourly (full-time and contract) workforce
  • Demonstrated experience managing employee relations issues independently
  • Experience using HRIS and Learning Management System
  • Strong working knowledge of employee relations and employment law fundamentals
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established policies and guidelines
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information to managers and hourly employees
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills using sound judgment and common sense
  • Ability to analyze data, compile reports, identify trends, and draw reasonable conclusions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data validation)
  • Ability to work independently in a standardized, fast-paced operations environment with limited supervision
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a trusted HR partner to employees and leaders by providing guidance on company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Managing employee relations matters, conducting investigations, and supporting conflict resolution efforts.
  • Partnering with leaders on attendance, performance management, corrective action, and employee development initiatives.
  • Supporting talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Coordinating and facilitating training programs and ensuring required compliance training is completed.
  • Assisting with workforce planning, engagement initiatives, and organizational effectiveness efforts.
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Supporting HR programs, processes, and projects to enhance employee experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR documentation.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and organizational growth.
  • Perform other HR related duties as assigned.
