About The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the HR Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of recruitment, onboarding, and HR orientation for the Corporation of the City of Woodstock. This non-union position provides operational HR support in the areas of compensation and job evaluation, performance and attendance management, employee and labour relations, and the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Coordinator provides timely, consistent, and customer-focused service, guidance, and administrative support on employment-related matters, applying sound judgment and discretion within established policies, collective agreements, legislative requirements, and delegated authority. The role serves as a primary resource to employees and management on HR processes and practices, supports operational needs across departments, and contributes to a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace.

Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management or a related discipline.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable human resources legislation, regulations, and best practices, including, but not limited to, the Employment Standards Act, 2000, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) requirements, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, labour relations legislation, and human rights legislation.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in benefits and pension administration.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative, operational, and advisory support across a broad range of human resources functions.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Preparing sensitive correspondence and reports.
  • Supporting HRIS administration, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination.
  • Generating HR metrics and documentation related to employee transactions.
  • Coordinating full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for front-line roles, including applicant screening support, interview coordination, background checks, offer administration, onboarding documentation, and exit processes.
  • Supporting the maintenance of job descriptions and organizational charts.
  • Conducting exit interviews and preparing related workforce statistics.
  • Administering benefit enrolments and status changes.
  • Completing monthly benefits reconciliation.
  • Supporting employee claims and inquiries.
  • Providing guidance on applicable employment legislation.
  • Assisting with job evaluation processes.
  • Supporting workplace investigations, employee status changes, claims administration, leave-related employee support, employment documentation, and training and development coordination.
  • Promoting fair, consistent, and inclusive HR practices.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of HR programs and employee experience initiatives.
  • Supporting collective bargaining preparation and administration by gathering and summarizing research, organizing supporting documentation, drafting proposals and related materials, assisting with collective agreement interpretation, and preparing labour relations reports such as seniority, attendance, and overtime tracking.
