In this role, you will work across a variety of industries and environments, balancing hands-on HR execution with strategic advisory work. This position is ideal for someone with strong HR fundamentals, sound judgment, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves—while still able to step back, see the bigger picture, and connect HR work to broader business needs.

  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment compliance, and core HR functions, including employee relations, performance management, policy development, recruiting, onboarding, and HR operations
  • Excellent communication, judgment, discretion, and relationship-building skills
  • Practical, curious problem-solver with strong critical thinking and follow-through
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect HR work to client goals and operational needs
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities in fast-moving or ambiguous environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; HRIS and HR technology experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel to client sites locally within the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, with occasional travel beyond

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to clients, providing practical guidance across employee relations, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, policies, compliance, compensation, benefits, and HR operations
  • Build strong client relationships through responsiveness, sound judgment, curiosity, honesty, and approachable communication
  • Assess client needs, identify gaps or risks, and develop practical recommendations, tools, templates, and action plans aligned with business priorities
  • Support the design and implementation of HR programs, processes, and initiatives, including performance management, engagement, talent practices, compliance, and manager support
  • Advise leaders and managers on employee relations matters, including coaching, documentation, investigations, disciplinary action, and terminations
  • Facilitate or support HR training and workshops for managers and employees
  • Manage multiple client priorities, projects, deadlines, and deliverables with strong organization and accountability
  • Collaborate with internal Lakeside team members to problem-solve, share updates, and deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience

Benefits

  • Flexible, hybrid work environment
  • Exposure to a wide variety of clients, industries, and HR challenges
