About The Position

The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) is seeking an experienced Human Resources Clerk to join their team at their Remus, MI facility. This role is responsible for hourly payroll processing and human resources functions for the facility, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. The HR Clerk will also support recruiting and onboarding for hourly employees, coordinate training activities, assist with benefits enrollment, support employee relations initiatives, and perform various administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient, with strong multitasking skills.
  • Positive and personable demeanor.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions accurately.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records.

  • Familiarity with HR practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly hourly payroll and ensure data accuracy within the system for wages, banking information, classifications, and other employee data.
  • Provide HR support and coverage across three shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and payroll administration practices.
  • Manage hourly recruiting, selection, onboarding, and associated responsibilities.
  • Prepare reports tracking employee absenteeism and related disciplinary actions.
  • Administer leaves of absence by providing necessary paperwork, documentation, and coordination.
  • Administer Workers' Compensation claims, including filing claims and working with the insurance carrier and employee throughout the recovery process.
  • Conduct hourly onboarding and offboarding processes, including document collection and recordkeeping.
  • Assist in managing employee records, benefits, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and events. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure employees are equipped with uniforms, PPE, and other supplies needed to perform their jobs safely.
  • Support employee relations activities and assist in resolving workplace concerns in accordance with company policies.
  • Partner with the plant management team to promote open communication, employee engagement, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
