About The Position

Saint John Energy is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join their team. This role involves working closely with leaders to build high-performing teams, enhance leadership capabilities, and cultivate an engaged, inclusive, and customer-focused culture. The HRBP will act as a trusted advisor, aligning people strategies with business objectives and providing strategic and operational HR support throughout an employee's career. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness. The HRBP will report to the Vice-President of Finance, People and Community and will be involved in recruitment, employee and leadership development, performance management, succession planning, policy development, and training. The role requires autonomy, confidentiality, business decorum, and strategic acumen.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, a related field, or possess demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Five to eight years of progressive HR experience, including experience supporting leaders as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience coaching leaders and managing employee relations matters.
  • Experience supporting organization change initiatives.

Nice To Haves

  • CPHR designation (or working toward designation) is preferred.
  • Experience in labour management in a unionized environment would be considered an asset including negotiations, grievance arbitration, and administration of collective agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders across the organization and support them in the achievement of business objectives through effective people strategies.
  • Partner with leaders on recruitment, succession planning, and workforce planning and development.
  • Identify learning and development needs and coordinate solutions.
  • Participate and lead performance review processes and compensation strategies.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and programs.
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and action planning.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organizational policies.
  • Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, and providing guidance on employee relations matters ensuring a fair, respectful, and consistent approach.
  • Assist with conflict resolution and facilitating positive workplace relationships; conducting or supporting workplace investigations.
  • Support leaders in managing attendance, accommodation, and return-to-work processes.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives and participate in cross-functional projects supporting business priorities.
  • Assist in the facilitation of culture building events and employee communications.
  • Use data and HR metrics and reporting to support and recommend solutions that improve organizational performance.
  • Provide support and to the Health, Safety, and Environment Coordinator in matters of Health and Safety.
