About The Position

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a Human Resources Associate to receive, log, prepare and submit CMS-2 personnel transactions, create and maintain Worker’s Compensation files, and assist with submission of Group Insurance transactions. In addition, this position will maintain position description files, keyboard memos and correspondence, assist with retirement paperwork, establish and maintain an electronic database of personnel information and serve as receptionist. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 words per minute.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience in a human resources field.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience explaining human resources related topics to others.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience managing a confidential human resources workload.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience processing retirement documents.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience processing insurance forms.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of paraprofessional experience utilizing computer systems, software, templates, and other guides to submit reports.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, logs, prepares, and submits CMS-2 personnel transactions.
  • Creates and maintains Worker’s Compensation files.
  • Assists with submission of Group Insurance transactions to IDOC central office.
  • Maintains position description files.
  • Keyboards memos and correspondence in response to employee inquiries regarding personnel processes and procedures.
  • Assists the Retirement Coordinator and employees with retirement concerns and paperwork.
  • Establishes and maintains an electronic database of personnel information.
  • Serves as receptionist.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
