About The Position

The Human Resources Associate is a critical member of the Alpha Public Schools HR team, serving as a trusted partner to staff across the organization. In this role, you will drive the day-to-day operations of the HR department while building meaningful relationships at every level of the organization. We are looking for someone who is thoughtful, highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities with accuracy and care. Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Human Resources, or 2+ years of experience working within Alpha Public Schools in a role involving people operations, employee relations, or related functions
  • Knowledge of and experience with working with HRIS, leaves of absences, payroll, and benefits

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR inquiries, policies, benefits, ensuring timely and accurate information is provided to foster a positive, compliant, and well-informed work environment.
  • Support day-to-day HR operations, including management of HR tickets.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations across the organization.
  • Assist in the administration and management of HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), ensuring accurate data entry, tracking, and reporting.
  • Answering employee questions related to HRIS access, updates, systems (such as FSA)
  • Partner with the HR Director on all steps to prepare for authorizer audits, supporting audit preparation, file tracking, employee follow ups, and meetings with authorizers.
  • Partner with the HR Director to develop and execute HR communications, including reminders, celebrations, and notices.
  • Lead the tracking and coordination of employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including background checks, I9s, Live Scan clearance, and new hire orientation follow-up especially for mid-year hires.
  • Ensure job descriptions and onboarding materials are prepared in partnership with leaders and the HR Director before a new hire’s first day.
  • Oversee the onboarding process, including orientation sessions, welcome communications, and ensuring training completion for new employees.
  • Provide Verification of Employment (VOEs) based on personnel files as requested.
  • Manage end-to-end processes for all leaves of absences, owning tracking, ensuring timely communication and compliance.
  • Lead presentations, tracking, and communications related to maternity and paternity leaves.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the health benefits broker and ensure employee inquiries regarding benefits are addressed promptly.
  • Provide support for additional employee benefits, such as FSAs, TicketsAtWork, and Empathia, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure appropriate recordkeeping, tracking, and compliance for workers compensation claims - maintaining accurate workers’ compensation documentation/trackers.
