About The Position

The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a multi-purpose, multi-program facility that functions as a community centre for the Deaf and as a non-profit charitable provider of services for the Deaf. The organization exists to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life of those we serve. Under the direction of the HR Director, the HR Assistant will play a key role in the HR department. The successful candidate will provide a wide range of confidential administrative support to the human resources function. This role is a great development opportunity for the ideal candidate who is up for the challenge.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Post-secondary education preferably in Human Resources Management
  • Detail oriented and resourceful self- starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Strong time management, organizational, multi-tasking and problem solving skills required
  • Able to work both independently and effectively with other team members
  • Excellent computer skills and competency with all Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with HRIS systems an asset
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • American Sign Language or willingness to learn
  • Must be within 15 to 30 years of age (as per Canada Summer Jobs requirements)
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number
  • Must be able to commit to full 8 weeks at 35 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain all records and databases
  • Ensure all HR files, forms, materials are updated and maintained in a secure and confidential manner
  • Participate in research, development and implementation of HR programs, policies, forms and initiatives
  • Promote effective employee relations with both union and non-union employees, with a focus on strong communications and interpersonal relationships
  • Provide administrative support for record collection, keeping, entry of data into the HRIS and general HR duties
