About The Position

The Human Resources Assistant supports the day-to-day administration of Human Resources programs and processes. This role supports core HR processes including recruiting and onboarding, training, compliance documentation, employee record management, and general HR administrative activities. The HR Assistant ensures accurate and timely processing of HR information while supporting HR leadership and internal stakeholders in accordance with established corporate policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, Human Resources, benefits, payroll, or customer service support role., preferably in manufacturing, food production, or similar industrial environment.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE such as hairnets, frocks, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc
  • Must be fully bilingual (English/Spanish), able to speak, read, write and translate documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams, including the ability to manage data, reports, and documentation.
  • Strong data accuracy, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to learn and navigate new systems quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements and unionized environments preferred.
  • Exposure to HRIS management systems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support hourly recruiting and onboarding activities, including job postings, candidate communications, interview coordination, and pre-employment documentation within the HRIS/ATS.
  • Prepare and administer new hire onboarding materials, packets, badges, forms, and orientation sessions, serving as a primary point of contact for new hires during the introductory period.
  • Coordinate required onboarding and training activities with Safety, Quality/Food Safety, and Operations to ensure completion of all documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Track probationary periods for new hires and coordinate required reviews and check-ins with managers to support successful completion of the introductory period.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting, onboarding, and training records in alignment with company policies, union requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Track, maintain, and audit records for required safety training, including monthly attendance logs and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation documentation, reporting, and follow-up activities in coordination with HR leadership and the Safety team.
  • Support follow-up actions related to safety audits, inspections, and corrective actions in partnership with Safety and Operations.
  • Ensure HR-related documentation and postings remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Provide administrative support for union-related processes, including maintenance of required postings, documentation, and new hire union materials.
  • Ensure timely collection, documentation, and distribution of union authorization cards and related records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with union representatives and shop stewards to support consistent processes and positive day-to-day labor relations.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent execution of core HR processes.
  • Maintain, file, audit, and manage personnel files, onboarding records, and compliance documentation in accordance with record retention and confidentiality standards.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and routine HR matters, escalating issues to HR leadership as appropriate.
  • Support recurring HR activities such as attendance tracking, recognition programs, and other scheduled administrative processes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail while contributing to a positive, service-oriented HR function.
