About The Position

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a candidate to serve as a Human Resources Assistant at Pontiac Correctional Center. The ideal candidate is energetic, self-motivated, task-oriented, has excellent organizational skills and shows great attention to detail. This position will handle different facets of human resources to include working as the Workers Compensation Program Coordinator, performing clerical duties, handling of confidential information, assisting with group life insurance processing, and preparing job postings. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of related clerical experience such as would be acquired at the Office Assistant level, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
  • Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or medical standards as set out by the employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least three (3) years of clerical experience.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of customer service experience.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience maintaining files and/or a computer database to track and update information.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Workers Compensation Program Coordinator.
  • Performs specialized clerical duties in the Human Resources Office.
  • Keyboards and proofreads a variety of confidential correspondence for accuracy and clarification.
  • Copies performance evaluations for personnel file and Central Office.
  • Assists with group insurance processing.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
