About The Position

Our client, a local highly rated co-educational school, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator to join their team. Interested candidates should be able to handle day-to-day human resource operations, process payroll, and administer benefit programs. A candidate should demonstrate a desire to work as a team player and take an active role this vibrant school's community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations as they relate to payroll and benefits.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, preferably in an educational nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency in financial and payroll software systems, Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to interpret and implement employment laws, procedures, and regulations.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, and customer service oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to identify appropriate channels for handling employee concerns.
  • Capable of maintaining a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism about employees and school information.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the administration of biweekly payroll, weekly time sheets, and annual leave.
  • Help oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other fringe benefits.
  • Work closely with benefit providers and related vendors; reconcile benefit invoices to payroll.
  • Manage all FMLA, STD, LTD, and WC claims processing.
  • Update and continuously improve the Employee Handbook and implement personnel policies and procedures.
  • Manage the School's HRIS software, maintain employee records, create and update position descriptions, and handle annual contract issuance.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees, assisting with inquiries, conflicts, and grievances in a fair and confidential manner.
  • Educate administrators and department heads on HR best practices.
  • Evaluate and help articulate the School's total compensation program, performance management review processes, and salary planning forecasts and analysis.
  • Identify and oversee appropriate training for new and continuing employees; communicate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
  • Design hiring and off boarding procedures that fit the School's mission and conform with human resources best practices; manage and participate in these processes.
  • Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding of faculty and staff, including issuing offer letters, assisting with forms, background checks, online access and assisting with new employee orientation.
  • Effectively communicate benefit options to employees.
  • Assist with external audits by preparing client prepared documents and other audit relates tasks.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual IRS Form 990, Form 5500, 403 (b) Retirement Plan Audit and other regulatory filings.
  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Ensure appropriate job classifications under FLSA.
  • Track all employee information based upon VAIS accreditation requirements.
  • Assist with annual DASL reporting for various independent school groups.
