About The Position

Performs daily tasks, maintains records, and assists with special projects to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the HR Department and to ensure compliance to dealership OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year human resources related experience, or an associate degree.
  • High proficiency in the use Word, Outlook, and Excel is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 general industry certification required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals on an adding machine.
  • Ability to compute percentage rates and commissions on an adding machine.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the day to day operations of the HR Department.
  • Updates data bases with employee information.
  • Files within appropriate file system all forms, records, reports, correspondence, or other important material.
  • Searches for and retrieves information contained in files as requested.
  • Keeps records of material removed from files.
  • Assists in administering leaves of absence.
  • Assists with semiannual and annual projects such as the Affirmative Action Plan, EEO-1, Vets 4212, 1095-Cs, 401(k) discrimination testing and benefit audits.
  • Responds to unemployment claims and requests for verification of employment.
  • Gathers Incident Analysis forms, drug testing results when appropriate, and Work Status Reports from Department Managers to create individual files for Worker’s Compensation injuries. Communicates with Department Mangers and Dealership Safety Representatives to ensure the forms are correctly completed and turned in a timely manner.
  • Reports claims (First Report of Injury) to the Worker’s Compensation insurance carriers.
  • Creates or assists in creating Bonafide Offers of Employment as needed for employees who injuries limit their ability to perform their essential tasks.
  • Communicates medical restrictions for injured employees to their department manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Completes OSHA 300 and 300A forms.
  • Informs HR Director if a trend is forming in Worker’s Compensation injuries.
  • Files claims with the Dealership Automotive Liability Insurance when accidents happen involving dealership vehicles. Informs Inventory Managers of the accidents, so the appropriate Inventory Manager can inform the floorplan insurance.
  • When appropriate, ensures Department Managers have obtained a claim number from third party automotive insurers and communicates that claim number to the Worker’s Compensation insurance company and the Inventory Manager.
  • Initiates follow-up with the dealership collision centers when third party insurers are responsible for repairs to dealership vehicles. Ensures that Diminished Value claims are initiated where possible and payments received for Diminished Value are submitted to the Business Office.
  • Proactively “walks through” dealerships and educates/informs department managers of conditions conducive to either employee injury or customer injury.
  • Maintains professional appearance and neat work area.
