About The Position

The incumbent of this position performs professional level duties in the Employee Relations and Benefits Unit of DCFS Human Resources section. Provides assistance and technical guidance to employees regarding Civil Service rules, department policies and procedures as well as Federal and State laws. Incumbent of this position is responsible for reviewing, researching, and processing requests related to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Worker’s Compensation, Continuous Performance Management, Return to Work, Unemployment Claims, and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodations.

Requirements

  • Three years of human resources experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor’s degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field.
  • The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and processes all Worker’s Compensation related claim forms and documents to the Office of Risk Management.
  • Provides assistance and/or guidance to management, staff, supervisors, and employees for all interested parties regarding the Return-to-Work Program as it relates to Worker’s Compensation.
  • Researches complex problems related to Worker’s Compensation and provides information to Human Resources Specialist when needed.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to management and employees regarding eligibility and rights under the Act.
  • Reviews certifications and completed forms when questions are raised regarding eligibility and authenticity.
  • This position is responsible for researching problems related to FMLA.
  • Resolve issues related to Employee Administration/payroll.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
