About The Position

Under the supervision of the Administrative Officer, the Human Resources Administrator assists with HR business processes and their application. This position acts as a resource on HR issues to all AMURE, AMUSE, MUNACA, MPEX, and Academic Associate employees at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working in a human resources environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with information of a sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to adapt and multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to carry on simultaneous projects.
  • Client focused and proven attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a computerized environment using word-processing, databases, spreadsheets and presentation software.
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French.

  • Experience with University HR policies and collective agreements is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Workday and LinkedIn is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist managers for all operational activities related to HR, from recruitment to retirement.
  • Provide support to the administrative team for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the University.
  • Identify position requirements, draft job descriptions and postings, assist in interviews and selection.
  • Prepare letters of offer and participate in onboarding and orienting new employees, administer trial/probationary reviews.
  • Support the hiring process for Academic Associates, Research Assistants, Research Associates (casual and regular), post-doctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate research trainees.
  • Work closely with clients to ensure that they understand the impact of recruitment and selection issues; ensure that all new hires meet requirements.
  • Assist the manager in providing guidance to managers/academic staff within the MNI regarding employee relations issues.
  • Perform preliminary investigations of employment and labour relation cases to gather background information and documentation for manager.
  • Assist manager with continuous follow-up on all current employee and labour relations cases.
  • Oversee processing of all payroll transactions for the MNI.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of all payments.
  • Ensure effective processing of all documentation pertaining to employee terminations and transfers.
  • Assist with the compilation of statistics for turnover reports.
  • Administer all medical leaves for the MNI.
  • Maintains data to provide to Faculty/Central.
  • Ensure prompt hiring of replacement staff.
  • Ensure prompt administration of CNESST dossiers and assists with issues related to health and safety.
  • Oversee the administrative processes for all leaves.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Analyze statistics on leaves to look for patterns.
  • Provide information and make recommendations to manager.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
