About The Position

This position provides technical support to the Statewide Payroll Services section for the Division of Finance. The main duties include processing routine personnel and payroll documents requiring interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, statutes, and personnel rules. Lead level authority is assigned. Payroll Services provides assistance and advice to the operational and administrative staff of their assigned agencies regarding personnel/payroll processing. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent and six months of advanced clerical experience.
  • Six months of postsecondary education (16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals six months) in any field may substitute for the specific experience.
  • Reading Comprehension: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Treats others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
