About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Human Factors Scientist for a Senior Scientist-level role in its Human Factors Practice in Atlanta, GA. This role involves analyzing human performance in various scenarios including automobiles, pedestrians, occupational work, and consumer/medical device products. The scientist will manage consulting activities related to human factors in accidents and their prevention, focusing on limitations in human perceptual, cognitive, and response capabilities. Responsibilities include developing client contacts, working on multi-disciplinary projects, conducting research on technical data and scientific literature, designing and evaluating warnings and safety information, and communicating complex analyses to non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience; Developmental, Experimental, Industrial, or Cognitive Psychology; Industrial Engineering (emphasis on Human Factors); or a related discipline; Master's degree with relevant experience will be considered
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience (consulting a plus)
  • Currently based in or willing to relocate to the Atlanta, GA area
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Assertive, self-starter, and able to work with accuracy under pressure and/or deadlines
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in various programming languages (e.g., Matlab, RStats) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Managing a range of consulting activities that involve human factors in accidents and their prevention, including limitations of human perceptual, cognitive, and response capabilities
  • Developing client contacts
  • Working on multi-disciplinary projects, providing case management, data processing, and other project support
  • Conducting research to obtain and review technical data, scientific literature, and standards
  • Participating in the design and evaluation of warnings and safety information
  • Communicating complex analyses clearly and succinctly to a non-technical audience
