About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Human Factors Scientist for its Human Factors Practice in Bellevue, WA. This role involves working within a team to address human factors, safety management, risk communication, and risk perception issues across various settings including occupational, consumer, and community environments. These contexts span areas such as consumer products, electronics, motor vehicles, pedestrians, manufacturing, oil and gas production, healthcare, and aviation. The activities will focus on analyzing past accidents and injuries, as well as managing safety risks to prevent future incidents.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Human Factors, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Industrial Engineering (emphasis on Human Factors), or a related field
  • Currently based in or are willing to relocate to the Bellevue, WA area
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Assertive self-starter who is able to accurately and flexibly work under deadlines
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude
  • Desire to expand present knowledge, especially as related to various industries and applied contexts
  • Ability to use basic scientific research to understand and solve applied problems
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Responsibilities

  • Managing a range of consulting activities that involve human factors issues in accidents and accident prevention, such as human perceptual, cognitive, and response capabilities and limitations
  • Developing client contacts
  • Working on multi-disciplinary projects and providing case management, information processing, and other project support
  • Conducting research to obtain and review technical data, scientific literature, regulations, and standards
  • Assisting with the design and evaluation of safety management practices and safety information
  • Communicating complex analyses clearly and succinctly to non-technical audiences
