About The Position

The HSSE Investigator is responsible for conducting thorough investigations into health, safety, security, and environmental incidents. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, identifies root causes, and recommends corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The investigator works closely with operations, safety teams, human resources, and leadership to promote a culture of continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in investigation tools and software.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and drive projects with a proactive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed investigations into incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Collect and analyze evidence including interviews and documentation.
  • Identify root causes using methodologies such as 5 Whys Analysis.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports with findings, conclusions, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with HSSE teams to implement safety improvements and monitor effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
  • Provide training and guidance on incident reporting and investigation procedures.
  • Participate in audits and inspections to assess HSSE performance and compliance.
  • Works collaboratively with and provides day-to-day coaching and advice to store managers, regional leaders and all other assigned employees.
  • Diagnoses and identifies pro-active steps to avoid recurring issues.
  • Tracks and interpret trends in incidents to proactively identify issues and develop training and other solutions.
  • Maintain incident databases and track trends to inform proactive safety strategies.
