About The Position

An HSSE Analyst & Claims Administrator plays a crucial role in insurance and risk management operations for the Site Mobility and Convenience (SMC) business in Texas and New Mexico. The key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in HSSE.
  • Claims Processing.
  • Regulatory Compliance.
  • Contract expertise with 3rd party providers (Claims handling company and Legal counsel).
  • Effective use of basic computational tools: Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, Outlook. Dexterity to learn from new computer company systems.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and ability to directly or indirectly influence employees, contractors and third parties.
  • Analytical skills: collecting, ordering, and generating statistics to issue recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner and make decisions based on priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Retail business is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess incoming general liability claims against the company. Including, but not limited to property damage, personal injuries, etc. Based on SMC’s exposure to each claim, either handle claim internally, escalate to Claims Handler company, or to Legal counsel.
  • Work closely with the Operations & Maintenance teams to gather evidence pertaining to claims from retail locations in a timely fashion.
  • Review insurance and legal billing statements and invoices for accuracy and coordinate payment with Manager for approval and payment of invoices.
  • Pursue and track reimbursement of insurance settlement from damages on site due to insured, 3rd parties.
  • Act as the Contract Holder for the Claims Handler and Legal Counsel external parties. This includes being the focal point for any internal legal information requirements and having a dashboard with the status of the claims to inform management.
  • Document, update and train the operation in a claims management procedure.
  • Communicate directly with 3rd party claimants, regulatory bodies, independent adjusters, appraisers, and attorneys as needed.
  • Be an advocate for SMC to minimize frivolous and fraudulent claims against SMC.
  • Attend necessary depositions and court hearings or coordinate other’s attendance.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel to defend the company’s position in disputed claims and participate in negotiations to settle claims out of court. (Final settlement amounts will be subject to Management approval).
  • Determine which CCTV videos can be shared with authorities / customers that require them and learn to use the company’s redaction tool for data privacy.
  • Support incident investigations and prepare the learning from incident bulletins based on Incident Investigation Reports.
  • Create and send out in a timely manner the HSSE Monthly Safety meeting agenda for the operations monthly Safety meeting.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system on the implementation status of actions in the Incident Investigation Reports and provide updates to the HSSE Manager and/or managers involved.
  • Compile and verify HSSE checklists in the electronic system that the company uses for such purposes, site visit reports, etc. Develop and maintain a process to track findings, present to the team monthly, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure that incident report information is accurate and coach Territory Managers, Store Managers and/or Contract Holders.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of HSSE systems/projects in the field: construction, maintenance and operational sites.
  • Serve as the point of contact for business data compliance in accordance with Control Framework’s PMR.
  • Perform Safety Walks individually and with Territory Managers / Facilities Maintenance and Construction personnel for calibration / coaching purposes.
  • Support office Safety: AED maintenance, drill execution, fire warden training and staff engagement for safety requirements at the premises.
  • Be the natural replacement for the HSSE Manager during periods of absence.
  • Assist in additional assignments with a Learner Mindset to meet the needs of a developing business as required.
