About The Position

Canada Pump & Power is seeking an HSSE Coordinator – NCSO with a blend of safety knowledge, practical field experience, strong communication skills, and administrative capabilities. This role, based in Fort Saskatchewan, supports operations across oil & gas, mining, and industrial marine construction projects. The position involves office-based HSSE coordination, field visits, virtual site support, safety documentation review, statistics tracking, and communication with supervisors and crews in various locations. The ideal candidate possesses the right attitude, personality, and maturity to support workers collaboratively and practically, focusing on building strong safety performance through trust, communication, coaching, accountability, and teamwork. The role requires comfort working from the Head Office while maintaining close field connections, which may include travel to project sites, shops, and yards, as well as conducting virtual inspections. The individual must be adept at identifying hazards and risks, collaborating on mitigation strategies, reporting safety statistics, following up on corrective actions, and ensuring safe work practices are planned, documented, and executed. Building positive relationships with crews while confidently addressing safety concerns is crucial.

Requirements

  • NCSO certification
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S regulations
  • Train the Trainer certifications
  • Minimum High school Education or equivalent
  • Experience working in industrial environments such as oil & gas, marine construction, mining, heavy civil, or infrastructure projects
  • Confidence working with operators, supervisors, contractors, and senior leadership
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract and the ability to travel to project sites
  • Proficient with computers and smartphone applications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write and speak English at a high level
  • Must participate in functional fitness evaluations and screening for drugs (including cannabis), alcohol and other controlled substances
  • Clean Criminal Background Check
  • At least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Supporting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up
  • Conducting internal safety audits and COR audit support
  • Supporting field workers and providing assistance with safety concerns
  • Reviewing FLRAs, JHAs, and operational safety documentation
  • Tracking safety statistics and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Working directly with operations to strengthen safety culture across sites
  • Assisting the operations team in preparing for upcoming work by ensuring safety requirements are met
