About The Position

The HSE Training Manager directly supports Nordex's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training programs across the organization. The manager ensures that employees and contractors receive the necessary training to perform their work safely, competently, and in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements. The position involves close collaboration with HSE leadership, Operations, HR, and external training partners (such as GWO and equipment vendors) to standardize training, track competency, and continuously improve organizational safety performance.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of HSE experience, with at least 3 years focused on training program
  • Experience in renewable energy/oil & gas, wind turbine service, construction, utilities, or industrial/manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI Z359, NFPA 70E, CSA Group standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Expertise in training development, adult learning methods, and competency assessment.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Proficient with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital training tools.
  • Field experience working with technicians or high-risk operations.
  • Independent, detail-oriented, creative, tenacious, and flexible are essential characteristics.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Education/Training, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience with GWO/IADC training programs (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive HSE training matrix for all roles (Construction, Service, Manufacturing, Office).
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of technical and safety training programs (e.g., GWO, Fall Protection, LOTO, Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Hazard Communication).
  • Ensure training materials align with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, CSA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Standardize curriculum, learning objectives, assessments, and refresher requirements across all business units.
  • Oversee onboarding training for new hires and contractors to ensure consistent safety expectations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local training requirements.
  • Maintain accurate training records for internal and external audits.
  • Evaluate instructor qualifications and ensure certifications (e.g., GWO Trainer, OSHA-authorized trainer) remain current.
  • Conduct skills assessments and verify worker competency in field environments.
  • Implement practical evaluations, scenario-based training, and periodic refresher programs.
  • Analyze training effectiveness, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in global or regional training standardization initiatives.
