About The Position

The HSE Technician supports health, safety, and environmental (HSE) operations for multiple remote camps and project locations on Alaska's North Slope during the winter ice-roads season. The HSE Technician serves as a field-based safety resource for employees, supervisors, and managers by assisting with safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, training, regulatory compliance activities, and hazard identification efforts. The position works closely with operations personnel to promote safe work practices, reduce risk, and support compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements. This is a seasonal position anticipated to begin in December 2026 and continue through early or mid-April 2027. The duration of the assignment may vary based on weather conditions and ice road operations on Alaska's North Slope. The HSE Tech follows a rotational schedule (4 weeks on / 2 weeks off) and requires extensive travel between North Slope locations. Transportation from the designated point of hire to the assigned work location is provided by the Company. While on rotation, employees are provided lodging and meals at the assigned remote camp location. Due to operational requirements, travel schedules, work assignments, and rotation lengths may be adjusted as business needs dictate. The majority of work is performed in remote camps and field environments, requiring a high degree of flexibility, professionalism, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, clients, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

Associate degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum 1 year of occupational safety, environmental, industrial, construction, hospitality, facilities, or related field experience.
Working knowledge of workplace safety principles and regulatory requirements.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work in remote locations.
Must be able to pass the company’s pre-employment process including a criminal background check, drug test, and basic physical.

Nice To Haves

Prior North Slope experience
Certified SIMS Trainer.
Current TWIC card.
OHST, CHST, STS, STSC, OSHA, ServSafe, First Aid/CPR, or other relevant HSE certifications.
Experience working in remote camps, industrial, oil and gas, construction, facilities, hospitality, or transportation environments.
Experience conducting inspections, audits, investigations, or safety training.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments of facilities/remote camps, work sites, equipment, operations, and employee work practices.
Identify actual and potential hazards and provide practical recommendations to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
Monitor compliance with DUS HSE policies, client requirements, and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Serve as a field resource to employees and supervisors regarding safe work practices, hazard recognition, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in and support daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-job planning activities, and job safety analyses.
Assist in identifying training needs and support the delivery of required HSE training programs.
Promote employee engagement in safety programs and help foster a proactive safety culture.
Maintain accurate and timely HSE documentation, records, reports, inspection findings, training records, and corrective action tracking.
Prepare and distribute HSE reports and safety metrics as directed.
Ensure incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage events, environmental events, and other safety concerns are reported within required timeframes.
Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing involved individuals and witnesses, documenting findings, and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
Communicate investigation findings and safety concerns to site leadership and the HSE Director.
Build positive working relationships with employees, supervisors, managers, client representatives, and support staff.
Travel extensively throughout Alaska's North Slope region to support multiple remote camps, ice road operations, projects, and work locations.
