About The Position

The Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Girls Basketball Program, including developing a competitive varsity team and building a strong, aligned program across all levels (JV and feeder programs). Key duties involve planning and conducting practices, implementing game strategies, supervising assistant coaches, and coordinating offseason development. The coach will schedule a full season of contests, including State Tournament Games, and is dedicated to fostering skills development, discipline, sportsmanship, and moral values among student-athletes, both on and off the court. The role also requires ensuring student-athlete safety and well-being, cooperating with athletic department requests, and adhering to all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, OHSAA, and ODE, including mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP. The coach must model positive behavior, maintain suitable sideline conduct, accept constructive criticism, implement administrative policies, provide training rules, and participate in clinics and school events. Additional responsibilities include ensuring team preparedness and maintaining equipment inventory.

  • Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for information that might periodically required.
  • Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) required for the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
  • Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
  • Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
  • Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
  • Be aware of, and implement, all applicable administrative polices set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
  • Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to student-athletes prior to the start of the season.
  • Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
  • Participate in Clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in School events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
  • Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponents.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.
