Girls Head Basketball Coach

About The Position

Rise Academy is seeking a Girls Basketball Head Coach for the 2026–2027 season. We are looking for a qualified coach with strong basketball knowledge who is passionate about building and developing a competitive program while investing in the lives of student-athletes. This is a stipend position. The head coach will be responsible for the following: Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity boys basketball program Follows Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Develop and implement a clear program philosophy that supports long-term player and team development Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and accountability Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and other coaches within the program Support and encourage student-athletes in their academic and athletic growth Provide leadership for offseason development opportunities such as open gyms, workouts, camps, or clinics Responsible for establishing a culture that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, growth, and excellence Committed not only to success on the court but also to mentoring young men and helping them grow in character and faith. In addition to leading the varsity team during the season, the head coach will demonstrate a commitment to program development beyond the winter months. This includes helping create continuity between varsity levels while investing in the long-term development of player success within the program.

Requirements

Prior basketball coaching experience required; varsity-level coaching experience preferred
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, player development, and team systems
Ability to lead, mentor, and build meaningful relationships with high school student-athletes
Strong organizational and communication skills
Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Rise Academy
Willingness to invest in the growth and development of the program beyond the competitive season
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
Focus on player development and building a trust while maintaining high expectations and discipline
Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies
Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related records
Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED or the ability to them current prior to hiring
