About The Position

The Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Specialist will serve as the initial Tier 2 point of contact for BPS employees, providing assistance to help them fulfill their responsibilities. This includes documenting, tracking, and resolving inquiries in a standardized manner, with the goal of delivering excellent customer service to end-users. The role supports all employees, HR Managers, RC Managers, Department Heads, Principals, and timekeepers with various functions such as salary lane changes, step increases, career awards, terminations, reconciliations for accrued time, and all Employee Information Services related functions that require direct entry into PeopleSoft. The HRIS Specialist will also provide support with position management adjustments.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, clerical or administrative work in which the major duties included customer service and/or computer experience in an office environment.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical practices and procedures for evaluation.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite to create and edit documents.
  • Ability to plan, organize and process a high volume of work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, and to prepare reports and correspondence as required.

  • Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and process requests for salary lane changes, step increases, career awards, national board certifications, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Perform direct entry into PeopleSoft for all employee information services functions, including terminations, accrued time reconciliations, and position management adjustments.
  • Manage expanded tuition reimbursement and BTU entitlement requests in strict accordance with contractual obligations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Update and maintain benefits service dates, BPS history, seniority records, and employee class updates.
  • Manage the employee information email box and phone inquiries, providing timely resolutions or escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Inform employees and stakeholders regarding human resources policies, procedures, and contract details.
  • Create and update instructional documentation, including FAQs and knowledge management materials for the Hub Help Center and other training platforms.
  • Fulfill requests for personnel file copies and provide documentation support for compliance audits.
  • Supervise work distribution for the employee information team and lead training on salary placements, transcript reading, and reimbursement processes.
  • Provide training and placement review support for staffing and other human resources teams.
  • Maintain and update employee information process guides to reflect system upgrades or changes in collective bargaining agreements and memoranda of agreement.
  • Monitor audit queries to identify discrepancies in salary or career award transactions while implementing and tracking corrective actions to mitigate downstream impacts.
  • Maintain the future entitlement issues tracker to ensure accurate processing of deferred actions.
  • Participate in professional development, seminars, and educational opportunities to maintain up-to-date knowledge of human resources best practices.
  • Assist with special projects and perform related duties as required to support departmental goals.
