About The Position

The Department Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, and team capabilities within a functional department. This role ensures that departmental objectives are aligned with broader business goals through effective resource management, continuous process improvement, and strong people leadership. The Department Leader drives operational execution, maintains compliance, and partners cross-functionally to deliver consistent results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (or equivalent relevant work experience)
  • 6-10 years relevant HR IS/Technology functional experience including leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing supervisors or large teams
  • Strong operational knowledge of the department’s processes and systems
  • Demonstrated leadership of enterprise HR technology platforms (SAP SF, ECP, ServiceNow, Phenom) including system stability, integrations, audit readiness, and release management.
  • Strong understanding of HR Operations, data governance, SOX controls, and compliance requirements for payroll, talent, and employee data.
  • Ability to translate HR strategy into scalable technology solutions that balance stability, speed, and user experience.
  • Proven capability leading cross-functional teams through complex change involving IT, Finance, and multiple business units.

Responsibilities

  • Translates divisional strategy into departmental goals and execution plans.
  • Identifies operational opportunities and proposes improvements to leaders.
  • Supports change initiatives and process optimization efforts.
  • Leads daily operations to meet quality, service, productivity, and safety targets.
  • Monitors KPIs, addresses performance gaps, and drives continuous improvements.
  • Ensures consistent application of policies, standard operating procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Manages departmental budget, including labor, materials, and operating expenses.
  • Forecasts resource needs and ensures staffing aligns with demand.
  • Recommends cost improvements and validates spending decisions.
  • Coaches and develops staff; conducts performance reviews, feedback sessions, and development planning.
  • Ensures effective onboarding, training, and succession planning within the department.
  • Fosters an inclusive, engaged, and high-performance culture.
  • Partners with HR, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Legal, and other corporate functions to support business objectives.
  • Represents the department in divisional meetings and working groups.
  • Participates in cross-functional initiatives and process improvements.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory, safety, environmental, and internal standards.
  • Monitors operational risks and implements mitigation plans.
  • Maintains audit readiness and accurate departmental reporting.
