About The Position

Cherokee Strategic Edge is seeking an HR Technician to support USSOCOM. The HR Technician delivers comprehensive HR services, including benefits guidance, leave policy administration, awards processing, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance with civilian and military regulations. The responsibilities of the HR Technician include personnel records management, regulatory compliance, administrative support, leadership briefings, and program improvement. This position is pending a contract award, and applications are being accepted for a future and anticipated need.

Requirements

  • Current TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent or Bachelor’s degree with an additional 5 years of related senior experience (total 17 years).
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Human Resources
  • At least 2 of the last 12 years of experience providing support to USSOCOM at the O-6 or higher level command.
  • Must have effective interpersonal communications skills to present complex reports to senior military officials.
  • Experience in managing Defense Travel System (DTS) at various levels.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and provide documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on administrative aspects of personnel management
  • Develop SOPs and Policies
  • Prepare briefings for command leadership
  • Process and manage all personnel actions for the unit, including promotions, transfers, leaves, separations, and reassignments.
  • Coordinate with SOCOM J1 on all personnel actions and awards.
  • Oversee the unit's awards and decorations program by processing recommendations, preparing certificates, and publishing official orders.
  • Manage the unit's performance evaluation system, tracking suspense dates for reports and ensuring their timely and accurate submission.
  • Maintain personnel readiness and strength reports for the commander, tracking all arrivals, departures, and duty statuses.
  • Act as the unit's point of contact for casualty reporting and survivor assistance procedures.
  • Draft, proofread, and process all official correspondence (memos, letters, policies) for the commander's signature, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Publish, post, and disseminate all official orders, directives, and announcements to the command.
  • Serve as the records manager for the unit, responsible for the proper filing and maintenance of official documents.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct all official unit ceremonies, such as changes of command, activations, awards ceremonies, and retirements.
  • Write and review the scripts, sequence of events, and talking points for all formal events.
  • Serve as the unit's expert on military protocol, advising the commander and staff on proper etiquette for official functions.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
